Waltteri Torikka celebrates his 40th birthday at Olavinlinna as part of the Savonlinna Opera Festival on Saturday, August 3rd at 4:00 PM. In this unique celebratory concert, Torikka will be joined on stage by the Kuopio City Orchestra conducted by James Sherlock, along with surprise guest performers.
“We’re guaranteed an exceptional evening and an unforgettable concert experience for all of us! I’ve selected music that is meaningful to me from throughout my career so far. This kind of concert and musical lineup is rarely heard,” Torikka rejoices.
This year also marks Waltteri Torikka’s 15th anniversary as an artist. He has risen to become a favorite baritone of Finnish audiences and has performed extensively both on opera stages and as a soloist with orchestras in Finland and abroad.
His powerful voice and sensitive interpretations have garnered him a wide audience for years. Torikka, known for his versatility, came to the attention of the general public in 2015 when he won the ‘Tähdet, tähdet’ competition. Torikka has appeared at the Savonlinna Opera Festival multiple times, and this summer he returns to Olavinlinna in the title role of ‘Don Giovanni’ on July 13th, 20th, and 25th, 2024.
The celebratory concert will feature opera and operetta selections, Italian classics, as well as favorite tunes from musicals and films. Additionally, by popular demand, Waltteri will perform songs from his successful albums ‘Sydän’ (including hits like ‘Kuin taivaisiin’ and ‘Myrskyluodon Maija’) and ‘Rakkaus’ (including songs like ‘Puhu hiljaa rakkaudesta’ and ‘Caruso’), accompanied by a full symphony orchestra for the first time.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of my debut at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Olavinlinna provides a magnificent setting for the concert, and I’m eagerly looking forward to creating a grand celebratory evening on this magical stage,” Torikka shares.
Tickets will go on sale at Lippupiste on Thursday, March 28th at 9:00 AM. Pre-sale for Opera Festival members is currently underway.
