Tenor Antti Annola joins the vocal group Rajaton

Annola’s debut with the group will take place during Rajaton’s Christmas Tour 2023

Finland’s most renowned vocal ensemble will welcome a new tenor starting December, as the singer Antti Annola, originally from Kempele, joins the ranks. Annola will be heard with Rajaton for the first time on the upcoming Christmas tour.

Before Annola’s start, Rajaton will actively perform as a quintet and undertake a 13-concert tour in Japan. Simultaneously, the group will diligently rehearse with Antti. “We can’t wait to start our journey together with Antti” says the group’s soprano, Essi Wuorela. “We’re also heading to North America early next year to perform with the Dallas and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestras, which means we’ll  get to introduce Antti to thousands of North Americans right away,” Wuorela explains.

Antti Annola is an experienced musician who has worked in numerous productions and ensembles, particularly in jazz and musical theater. “This feels like a dream come true! I’m truly excited and incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to our joint concerts; it’s a great honor to sing with this talented group” says Antti.

“Antti has incredibly diverse experience with various ensembles. He’s an extremely skilled singer with a beautiful and versatile voice. It’s very motivating to explore new and old compositions with him” Rajaton rejoices.

Established in the fall of 1997, Rajaton has toured in Finland and around the world, performing in concert halls, major festivals, and as soloists with symphony orchestras. The group’s early popularity paved the way for other Finnish vocal ensembles. Rajaton has consistently ranked high on Finland’s official album chart, achieved double platinum sales, and released 18 albums. Rajaton’s previous tenor, Hannu Lepola, left the group in the spring to focus on his own musical projects.
