Virpi Räisänen, one of the most sought after Finnish mezzo sopranos, released a new album 3rd of April. Trasparente is a recording of works composed for Virpi Räisänen as a violinist-singer. The pieces have either been adapted for her in this dual role or been composed earlier, but previously never performed or recorded with her playing and singing at the same time.
Several top scale composers, such as Uljas Pulkkis, Ilmari Mäenpää, Harri Österman, Beverley Julie Lunt and Jean Van Vugt have been writing music for this album and Räisänen’s virtuosic chamber music ensemble.
All the songs on the disc were recorded with Virpi Räisänen simultaneously playing and singing at Renswoude Church, The Netherlands in 2010 and 2017. The album is produced, engineered and edited by Jean van Vugt and the executive producer is Erkki Nisonen / Alba Records
Trasparente is available from Alba Records and Spotify.
