Tomas Djupsjöbacka's path to conductor started already in 2012, when he received coaching from New York Metropolitan Opera Music Director designate Yannick Nézet-Séguin. While still attending Sibelius Academy's conducting class, Djupsjöbacka conducted the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra and Tapiola Sinfonietta, among others, and has recently debuted with the Helsinki and Turku Philharmonic Orchestras and Lahti Symphony Orchestra.
During the ongoing season Djupsjöbacka will will conduct for instance the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vaasa City Orchestra and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. He will also conduct at the Viva Cello Festival in Switzerland and at the Harpa International Music Academy concerts in Iceland.
